Ladies and gentleman,

Good evening!

First of all, please allow me to extend the warmest welcome and most sincere appreciation to all of you for attending my post assumption reception. I'm honoured to be the fifth Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Grenada and I presented my letter of credence to H.E. Dame Cecile La Grenade, Governor General on June 16th, 2017. Before I came to Grenada, I have already heard a lot of nice words about the world renowned Spice Isle. Grenada is an important country in the Caribbean. Since independence, Grenada has enjoyed sustained economic growth and steady improvement in people's livelihood. Although it is less than two weeks since I arrived in Grenada, I have been deeply impressed by the natural beauty of Grenada and its great people. Wherever I go in Grenada, I am always treated with warm hospitality and sincere friendship from the Grenadian Government and people. It is a vivid reflection of the existing friendly cooperative relationship between China and Grenada and makes me feel just at home.

Thanks to the strategic and visionary decision taken by Dr. the Rt. Hon Keith Mitchell 12 years ago, Grenada resumed its diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Now Grenada has become an important cooperation partner and friend of China in the Caribbean. In the past 12 years since the resumption of diplomatic ties, with the commitment and support of the leaders of both countries, our bilateral relationship has grown from strength to strength through joint endeavours of our two countries and peoples. Today China and Grenada are enjoying firm political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation, consolidated people-to-people exchanges, and mutual support and coordination in international affairs.

The political trust between China and Grenada based on mutual respect and equality has been enhanced to new heights by frequent visits and exchanges of our two leaders. China and Grenada show solidarity with each other on issues of their respective core interests. China is most grateful for Grenada to firmly support One-China principle and China's reunification course.

The Sino-Grenada economic cooperation is greatly productive. A number of projects have been accomplished and more projects are on the way. To name a few, the low-income houses, national cricket stadium, Kirani James Athletic Stadium and Chinese agricultural mission.

The people-to-people exchange between China and Grenada is flourishing. Over the years, hundreds of Grenadians have been to China through scholarships and short term trainings. It helps more and more Grenadians gain firsthand experience of China and its culture. The art troupes from China, Chinese film festivals, Spring Festival Fair and Confucius Classroom in TAMCC build up a bridge connecting the hearts of our two peoples. The historical visit of Ark Peace is one landmark in our bilateral relations and further promotes the friendship between our two peoples. We are also pleased to see that more and more Grenadian painters, artists visited China. All these cultural exchanges between us greatly promote mutual understanding and friendship of our two peoples.

China and Grenada have been enjoying close cooperation on international arena. We are both developing countries, sharing common views on many key international issues. We work tirelessly together with other countries for a better world of enduring peace and common prosperity. China is grateful for the valuable support of Grenada in various international organizations such as the United Nations.

China attaches great importance to its relationship with Grenada. Under the guidance of the second China's Policy Paper on Latin America and the Caribbean which was released late 2016, China is ready to work side by side with Grenada to bring the relationship to new heights at bilateral, regional and global levels. We are confident that by working together, we can certainly build on what has been achieved and further deepen the bilateral relationship. The future of the Sino-Grenadian relationship will be brighter.

Ladies and Gentlemen, many people say that our bilateral relationship is now in a golden age. I fully agree to this judgment. I am greatly honoured to be appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Grenada amid the golden age. As the new Chinese Ambassador, I am also keenly aware of the enormous responsibility of this office. During my tenure, I will exert my best efforts to advance China-Grenada relations and cement the friendship between the two peoples.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you present today for your commitment and contribution in promoting Sino-Grenada cooperation and for your support to the Chinese Embassy. I sincerely hope that I can count on your generous support during my term of tenure. I look forward to working closely with you to make the Sino-Grenada relationship more successful and more productive.

Thank you.
